First Christian Church of Claremore (Disciples of Christ)

About Us

We are First Christian Church, Claremore; an Open and Affirming congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). We agree that God’s love extends to all people, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, political ideology, age, gender identity/expression, mental and physical ability, or any other designation that has brought them the pain of exclusion and discrimination by the Church and society.

With open hearts and minds, we welcome every child of God to fully participate in the life and ministries of this congregation.

God's Word

We are called to study and read scripture for ourselves. Rather than having tests of faith and creedal statements, we critically and thoughtfully study scripture, taking into account the history and background – the context – in which it was written.

All are welcome to the Lord’s Table for the sake of mission and for the sake of the world as the one family of God. We do this by celebrating communion each Sunday. That is why the chalice is our logo.

A person makes the choice to follow God’s call rather than the choice being made for them as an infant. Baptism is the basis of membership in the Church and also a mark that every person is called to serve God – the idea of the “priesthood of all believers.”

We need you! As members of Christ's community we are called to serve. We need people to help us support the ministries of the church and  community.  Young and old all have a place in helping. Please contact the church office to see how you might help serve the church and the community.

Our Staff

Julie Ketcher

Interim Minister

My name is Julie Ketcher. I have been actively involved in church activities my entire life. I love to learn and I am always looking at how best to apply scripture to our 21st century living. I am a full time public school teacher with JustusTiawah Public Schools. First Christian Church Claremore has been my community of support since 1995. As Disciples, we value lay leadership and try to support each other as all grow closer to God in our various paths of practice and living. Our Search and Call Committee is engaged in the process required that will result in the calling of a new pastor to our church. In the meantime, we will do what we do best - love each other, show compassion for all of life, and remain committed to our decision to allow God to be the center of our lives and of our community. Come join us.
