Laity are the decision makers and facilitate the work of the church within the Disciples of Christ. Their input and direction guides the work of the staff, including the minister. Congregational polity, which is our form of church governance, is based upon the good news that each person within a faith community can contribute to a church's life and vitality within their roles in the church structure. Consequences of this form of governance can include the joys of collaboration and fellowship as well as the gift of sharing and benefiting from the discernment and wisdom within a group. This form of governance can be a challenge, however, because it requires time, effort, and cooperation on the part of leaders in order for the church to function, and it requires members to be willing to assist leaders in their efforts. Please take time to thank those who served on the 2022 Board with faithfulness and care, and please hold those who are preparing for their roles in 2023 in prayer. We truly do need one another - thank you all for your unique talents, experiences, perspectives, and willingness to serve.
